Sector Maps & Venue Access and Directions

The championship is a wonderful event to attend as the venues are the free flowing rivers and majestic lakes of the Rocky Mountains and the mountain resort towns of Colorado.

The Town of Vail is the location for the opening and closing ceremonies and host hotel.

The host hotel is Evergreen Lodge where the event headquarters, competitor lodging, meals, transportation staging, team registration, captain’s meetings, beat draw, and posting of scores will occur.  This will be a great place to meet and mingle with the international teams and to enjoy the festive atmosphere.

Oktoberfest-e1418506352190-300x93The opening ceremony is a flag parade of teams led through Vail along Gore Creek, by Helmut Fricker, to Lionshead ending at the Vail Marriott. Here the with official ceremony will occur with welcome speeches and the official championship opening.  Teams will enjoy a Welcome Dinner in the Marriott’s Colorado Room and a special cultural presentation.

Opening Dinner and Closing Awards Dinner are available now through August 15, 2016.

Conservation Symposium will be held to highlight area watershed issues.  Speakers will be a representative from Colorado Parks & Wildlife and Colorado Trout Unlimited.  This is open to the public and all are welcome to attend. This is occur at the Ford Amphitheater and be open to the public.

Brookie-orange smDerek DeYoung Art Show will be on display with artist present during the final day of the championship.  The foyer to the Marriott Grand Ballroom will be adorned with art in a celebration to fly fishing.  Come visit with Derek and see his unique style of paintings.

vail oktoberfestThe closing ceremony is open to the public at the Ford Amphitheater and will follow the Conservation Symposium.  Watch as team and individual medals get awarded while national anthems are played and nation’s flags are raised.  Cheer along side all the competitors as the medals and trophies are held high. Closing speeches are stated and the ‘Sacred Scroll’ is passed to the next host nation.

The awards banquet then follows that evening with teams going to the Vail Marriott Grand Ballroom for dinner and awards.  The awards handed out here are from our sponsors and go to teams and selected individuals of the event. Enjoy dinner and the live music as the championship closes with smiles, new friendships, and memories for a lifetime.

Fishing venues are divided into 5 sectors. Maps to the sectors and the land rules will be posted here.  Access will vary by sector based on private or managed property requirements.  Land owners, ranch owners, and government agencies have all joined together to provide the championship waters.  Parking and pedestrian traffic will be controlled so to not disturb the water.  Bring a camera and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Colorado and watch true masters of the fly rod in action.
